Aberdeen, looking to stretch their lead at the top of the league, suffered an early set back when Rangers took the lead in seven minutes. A mistake from young Mark Thomas allowed Ashokodi to go one-on-one with Esson and the Rangers player made no mistake. The Dons stormed back and John Stewart levelled in the 39th minute when he collected a through ball from Considine and hammered his shot in off the right hand post.
Then on the stroke of half time Jamie Winter added a second when he netted on the second attempt after good build up play from McInnes, Stewart and Lovell. In an even second half the Dons looked set to secure the win when another error allowed Rangers the equaliser. Ryan Esson failed to gather a high ball at the edge of his box allowing Hutton to thump the ball into the empty net.
