The Dons took the lead against the league leaders in the 65th minute with a well-worked goal. Tarditi headed a cross into the path of Lombardi and he cut inside the Celtic full back before hitting a shot in off the far post. The visitors looked to be in control before losing an equaliser in the 82nd minute from a good cross and header. Worse was to follow when the Dons lost a scrambled effort with three minutes remaining and all the good work was undone.
Despite the disappointment youth Coach Neil Cooper was happy with the display his young side had produced. "I have to say I was really pleased with the performance today. Celtic are the best in Scotland at this moment and I told the players to go down there and show no fear and they didn't let me down. Both teams did remarkably well in the conditions. "We took our goal well and at that stage we looked comfortable and we kept our shape well. They scored a good equaliser from a fine cross and a good header. Although it was disappointing to lose the late goal we have to remember that this a very young side and most of them will still be playing at this level next season so it was a good experience for them."
Celtic now face Rangers in the semi-final of the competition.
