Daal on target as reserves win again

A first half Dyron Daal goal saw Sandy Clark's young team retain their unbeaten SPL Reserve League record at the expense of St. Mirren at a very wet Links Park.

Following an even opening period, the game's only counter came with four minutes to go before the interval when Kyle Macaulay dispossessed Richard Brittain in the middle of the park. Macaulay in turn crossed for DAAL to side-foot home from twelve yards.

Macaulay received a yellow card for a late tackle three minutes after the restart and shortly afterwards referee Neil Waters was forced to leave the field of play with a calf injury, to be replaced by Morag Pirie.

Macaulay went on a mazy run in 65 minutes leaving three defenders trailing in his wake before seeing his effort blocked by Saints keeper Tony Bullock. With five minutes to go, Bullock came to the rescue again, slide tackling Daal inside the area as the forward prepared to pull the trigger.
