Aberdeen enjoyed a lot of possession in the first half but failed to produce an end product. The Dons best chance of the half fell to Macaulay in the 10th minute when Daal laid off a Smith cross into the path of the midfielder. Macaulay fired wide and the Dons were to rue the miss six minutes later when the visitor's took the lead through Ashikodi who beat Soutar from seven yards.
Soutar then went on to produce two or three fine saves to keep the home side in the match. Aberdeen took control of the match after the break and grabbed a deserved equaliser in the 63rd minute through Chris Maguire. The striker went on a probing run before being felled on the edge of the box. He simply dusted himself down and left Stefan Klos helpless with a well-struck free kick.
The Dons continued to dominate then against the run of play Rangers broke and scored a second through Shinnie. Justice was done however with a dramatic late equaliser from substitute Willie John Kiely. Man of the match Chris Maguire unselfishly turned a cross into the box back across goal and Kiely turned it into the net with the last kick of the game.
