Former Inverurie Locos signing David Ross made a sensational start to his Aberdeen career with a hat trick in his first match at Highland Academy in Dingwall. The new signing made his dream start as the youth team beat Inverness 3-1 in a league match this afternoon.
Despite difficult weather conditions a strong looking Aberdeen team took the lead after only 3 minutes. Paton crossed from the right and Willie John Kiely had his shot saved but the keeper could only parry it and Ross was on hand to claim his first goal for the club. Despite continuing to play some good football in the windy conditions the Dons were unable to add to the scoring although Fraser Stewart made a couple of good saves to deny the home side.
Straight from the re-start Inverness levelled with Donaldson scoring a goal that had more to do with the weather conditions than good finishing. However the Dons did not panic, continued to play football and deservedly regained the lead again in the 57th minute. Captain for the day Chris Maguire had a good run down the left and put in a superb cross for Ross at the back post and the striker made no mistake with a sweet volley.
Ross completed his hat trick and sealed the win four minutes from time. McVitie's shot was only half cleared by the home defence and from 20 yards Ross fired home for a memorable debut.
