Dons lose out in second half

In an under 21 match involving two extremely youthful squads, the Tangerines took the honours in a poor contest. The Dons had the best of the early exchanges, with Michele Lombardi and Andrew Considine going close, before they took the lead in the 21st minute. A Ryan O'Leary free kick was headed on by John Stewart to Stephen TARDITI who scored from close range.

United equalised nine minutes later when a William EASTON effort was deflected past David Hutton. Both teams had chances to increase their tally before the break, including a Lombardi shot that was saved by Paul Jarvie. United came out all guns blazing after the interval and took the lead in the 59th minute when EASTON grabbed his second. With fourteen minutes remaining, the match was over as a contest when Kenny JARVIS scored directly from a corner.

The Dons gave Brian Neill and Marc Robertson, members of the under-16 squad, their under 21 debuts when both came on in the second half.
