Dons Weak at Goal

Again at Pittodrie on Saturday the Dons failed because of the ineptitude of their forwards. Territorially Aberdeen held a big advantage, but the forwards could not turn this advantage into goals. There was not much between the teams in the first half, but with the Dons leading at the interval the points seemed safe. Most of the second period East Fife were defending, but in the closing ten minutes the Methil team deservedly snatched the equaliser.
Unless Aberdeen can add thrust to the attack their prospects of surviving for any length of time in the cup competition are anything but rosy. Armstrong got the Dons' goal fifteen minutes after the start. Younger produced the equaliser ten minutes from the end.

Aberdeen Discovery

There was little to complain of in the Pittodrie defence. Aberdeen have discovered a promising young player in Alec Smith, of Aberdeen Juniors. It doesn't say much for the rest of the forwards that Taylor, recognised as a half-back, was the most forceful member of the line. Wilkie at right half, a strong forcing player, was outstanding in a stout-hearted East Fife rear division. James and P. Simpson were a pair of clever inside forwards, and Younger on the left wing was a fast and dangerous raider. Rangers' Northern League team suffered their first defeat on Saturday at the hands of St Bernards, but still have a clear cut lead.
