Dons' Great Bid For The Flag

ONLY one point behind Dundee, the Dons are making a great bid for the North Eastern League championship. Their last two games are at home to Falkirk and Raith Rovers respectively, whereas Dundee go to Ibrox on Saturday, and finish with a home match with Dunfermline Athletic. The Dons, too, have by far the better goai average.

At Arbroath on Saturday the Dons won comfortably. They ought to have succeeded by more than three clear goals. Dyer failed with a penalty, and some great scoring chances were missed. It was their third victory in successive, away games, in which they have scored fifteen goals without loss - a great performance.
At no stage of the game at Gayfield did Arbroath look like scoring, so great was the mastery of the Aberdeen half-backs and backs over the home forwards.
Green and Pattillo were the men who mattered in attack. The former had two goals and Pattillo one. They are tremendous workers, and as a pair must be the most effective inside men in the League.
Waldron had an off-day, and Miller and Munro were moderately good on the wings.
Arbroath were strong enough in defence, but were poor in attack. They have made a great capture in Murray, of Carnoustie Panmure, at right half.
