Dons at Top of N.-E. League

ABERDEEN lead the North Eastern League on goal average. They have played two matches fewer than Rangers, who have the same number of points. The Dons have by far the best goal average, and are now only one short of the century - a great record.

They beat Raith Rovers on Saturday by eight clear goals. The game was another triumph for Green, the inside left, who counted four times, a repetition of his performance against Dundee United. Waldron and Pattillo each scored twice.
Their team work was brilliant. In six minutes they were three goals up. The Rovers were plucky, but they were ragged and unbalanced.
The Dons' defence was always steady. McKenna emerged with greatest credit in the rear. Russell, and Taylor were great schemers, and always had the measure the visiting attack.
Few defences will stand up to such a devastating trio as Pattilio, Waldron and Green. The two inside men are playing great football at present, and Waldron is proving the ideal leader. Miller has blossomed out into a very clever winger. In the last two games, his form has been first rate. Gallacher, who was obviously out of position, revealed cleverness on the ball.
Bruce was not blame for Rovers' heavy defeat. While his clutching was none too good at times, he nevertheless had many brilliant saves.
