This match was played on St Margaret's park, Lochee. The ground was in a wretched condition. There was a fair attendance of spectators when referee R.Davidson, Arbroath, and the teams lined up as follows:-
Lochee United: Gray; Harvey Hannah; Smith, Milne, McInally; Lavery, McInroy, Burns, Blair, Groundwater.
Aberdeen A: Barrett; McKernan, Brebner; Willox, Thompson, Robertson; Knowles, Cruikshank, Ruddiman, Shiach, Johnston.
At the outset the visitors assumed the aggressive. The clever defence of Harvey and Hannah, however, rendered all their efforts fruitless. Assuming the aggressive, the United got westwards, and they were successful in securing a corner, which, however, proved abortive. Continuing to be the aggressors, Lochee kept up a steady bombardment on Barrett's charge, and Groundwater had a try for goal, but Barrett cleared in clever style. A foul was awarded to Lochee, but they failed to find the posts. The relief came to the visitors in the form of a foul against Lochee. Ruddiman caught up the sphere, and worked westwards, but Smith successfully negotiated a delivery of Shiach's, and transfer to play to the other end.
On play being resumed, Aberdeen came away in determined fashion, and a couple of minutes later Rodham and had the ball past Gray. Keeping up the attack, a piece of clever play ended in Shiach scoring. Lochee were now are doing their utmost to reduce their leeway, and Groundwater sent in a beauty, which looked as if it would be converted. McKernan, however, came to the rescue, and punted clear. The Aberdeen were soon on the run, and Kurri had a stinger to negotiate from the foot of Shiach. Lochee's erratic shooting nullified many at promising opening. Their efforts, however, were the last rewarded by Burns converting a cross from Groundwater. Lochee were now are all over their opponents, and Burns, getting on the run, crossed to Groundwater, who worked himself into a good position, and drove for goal. Barrett only partially cleared, and Burns, rushing in, equalised the game.
