23/11/1907 | KO:

At Station Park, Forfar. Teams:-

Forfar Athletic: Craig; Harvey, Gibb; Gowans, Janes, Bruce; Robertson, Docherty, Langlands, Downie, Troup.
Aberdeen: Mutch; Hannah, Brebner; Davidson, Simpson, Drain; Muir, McKinley, Collins, Ritchie, Robertson.
Referee - Mr J. Baird, Montrose.

The home forwards got within shooting distance in consequence of a foul granted against Muir. Downie got a chance, and gave Mutch a hot shot to deal with. Aberdeen forced a corner, and McKinley headed past from a beautiful shot by Muir. Aberdeen still continued to press, and Craig had some warm work. Langlands born down on Mutch, and shot well, but the ball sailed over the bar. The game was over very even nature up to half-time, which arrived with neither team having scored.

On play being recommenced, Troup got away on the left, but Hannah caught his shot and transferred. Davidson was showing up well for the visitors, and was instrumental in obtaining the lead for Aberdeen. Robertson obtained a beautiful cross from the write half, and headed past Craig. Aberdeen could not be shaken off, and persisted in had a sing Harvey and Gibb, and it was only what they deserved when Collins, who was on trial for the A team, good Aberdeen two up with a smartly-taken shot.

On the homesters' side, Gibb, Harvey, and Langlands were the best, while Aberdeen were perhaps best served by Mutch, Muir, and Davidson.

The Reserves Win.

Station Park was in anything but good order on Saturday, after the recent rains, and it is little wonder that some time elapsed before the play rose above a mediocre standard. Forfar were first to attack, and it looked healthy for them for about twenty minutes or so, during which time Mutch saved several great shots, and the backs drove away many likely runs. The visitors were a very long time in settling down to their game, but once they got on the move there was danger flying around Forfar's citadel. Honours were even at half-time with Aberdeen having pulled themselves together to show they meant business. It was not long before "Gowie" showed them that goals count, and his effort was a great one. Shortly after Collins, in waiting at the six-yards line for a kick-off, fastened on the return, and put his side, two up. Forfar were seldom in it after this, and it was not Aberdeen's fault that 2 goals instead of 4 should have been the result. They are a great team are the Reserves, and what they do is done with a will that is quite delightful to all who watch them. This win puts them second on the table, with a very strong chance of securing top place shortly if they keep up their present rate of wins. They seem to be keen on the championship, and we hope they may get it.
