Dundee A 1 - 0 Aberdeen

HT Score: Dundee A 0 - 0 Aberdeen

Northern League
Dundee A scorers: McDonald

07/12/1907 | KO:

At Dens Park. Teams:-

Dundee A: Bernard; Oswald, Harper; Watson, Ramsay, Marnie; Russell, McDonald, Currie, Wilson, Jackson.
Aberdeen A: Mutch; Hannah, Brebner; Davidson, JJ Simpson, Drain; Morgan, Findlay, Mckinley, Ritchie, Robertson.
Referee - Mister W. Anderson, Forfar.

The visitors won the toss, and Dundee kicking off forced several fruitless corners. Davidson had a splendid run on the right, but Harper held him. Aberdeen pressed for a time, but the defence of the homesters defied the Aberdeen forwards to get through. Bernard effected a find save from Robertson, who shot far out. Simpson and Bernard had a race for the ball, and Bernard got there first, saving his side by a grand turn of speed. The exchanges were of a very even nature up to half-time, which arrived with neither team having scored.

Dundee came away again, but were weak at goalmouth, the forwards failing to take advantage of the openings made for them by the halves. Aberdeen visited Bernard, but Harper cleared in masterly fashion. Robertson returned, and had the goal at his mercy, but he hit the upright, and the ball rebounded into play. Macdonald rushed the ball passed Mutch near the close of the game.

For the home team Harper was best, while Robertson and Davidson were prominent in the visitors' ranks.

The A's Lose another Brace.

It was almost courting defeat to send away a disorganised front line such as went to Dens Park on Saturday. We are told there was no alternative, however, owing to the reports as to injuries at home, when capable reserves were required in case of emergency. In the first half the A's held their own with some┬Čthing to spare, and but for weakness at goalmouth ought to have scored. The second period saw no improvement, but a chance shot in a melee beat Mutch, and the points went to the home side. Play was very scrappy throughout, and did not rise above a mediocre display. The visiting halves and defence were strong, but only the left wing was prominent in the front line. There was little to choose between the teams, who were well matched so far as the play went.
