Partick Thistle 2 - 0 Aberdeen

HT Score: Partick Thistle 0 - 0 Aberdeen

Scottish Reserve League
Partick Thistle scorers: Lowrie, Lowrie

05/11/1910 | KO:

At Firhill on Saturday. Teams:-

Partick Thistle A: Howden; Fletcher, Dunsmuir; Taylor, McLaughlin, Bowie; Robertson, Blair, Lowrie, McLellan, Thomson.
Aberdeen A: Greig; Hannah, Harper; Davidson, Macfarlane, Low; Hay, Towns, F. Hendry, Edgar, Neilson.
Referee - Mr. J. W. West, Paisley.

Thistle kicked off, and were immediately the aggressors, McLellan and Robertson testing Greig. Good work on the visitors' left looked promising, but from Neilson's centre Hendry headed over the bar. Play was again taken to the visitors' half, but Lowrie sent past. The Aberdeen forwards now forced matters, but the Thistle defence proved their stumbling-block, and a corner gained brought no advantage. Play on equal nature followed, and at half-time neither team had scored.

On resuming, Thistle at once made progress towards Greig's charge, Robertson being prominent. A corner relieved the pressure on the Aberdeen defence, but brought no advantage to the home eleven. Aberdeen now retaliated, but Hendry's shot went wide. Thompson, on the Thistle left wing, was working hard, and it was principally due to his efforts that Thistle got the opening goal, Lowrie beating the finishing touches to a nice centred. A rally by Aberdeen looked dangerous, but Howden handled Hendry's parting shot cleverly. Thistle were now are having most of the play, but their shooting was poor, and several good chances were missed. Almost on the call of time and individual effort of Lowrie's was saved at the expense of a corner. Another corner succeeded, from which Lowrie netted the ball.

Like their senior brethren, the Reserves fell at Firhill Park on Saturday. Edgar and Co. played well in the first half, and had very hard lines in not being on the lead before half-time. Their chief complaint was in the trickiness of the ground, and they were unable to gauge it proporly. In the second period the home side got a lovely goal, and had the present of another through a mistake, and thus won by 2-0. It was hard on the Aberdeen lads who did not deserve to be down by more than one goal. Howden kept a splendid goal for Partick, and the best men on the Aberdeen side were Hannah, Davidson, and Neilson.
