Showing greatly improved form, the young Dons thoroughly deserved their victory over Celtic reserves at Pittodrie last night. They dictated the run of play in the first half, when they led 3-0, and although Celtic brightened up in the second half the homesters finished in sparkling style.
All departments of the home team were strong, and there was a distinct improvement compared with the form shown against Motherwell "A" on Saturday.
A mistake by the Celtic 'keeper saw Aberdeen "A " take the lead in two minutes. Williams was tripped the touchline. and Taylor's free kick from forty yards out was allowed to trickle into the net. Heartened by this start, the home team set the pace and Williams was again boring through when he was brought down outside the penalty box. Adey came up to take the kick and smacked a terrific shot into the corner of the net.
Celtic could not settle in this half, and it was no surprise when Smith made the home total three in twenty-one minutes. McKay might have stopped the winger's shot, but he allowed it to cross the line.

CELTS FIGHT BACK

Celtic could not raise a gallop before the interval, but they resumed in different vein and had the home goal under pressure in several attacks. They were rewarded in thirteen minutes when Carruth forced his way through to beat Hendry despite the attention of Taylor. Further success was denied Celts for a spell, and at the other end Bain tested McKay with a great shot.
With twenty-four minutes gone Carruth scored a grand goal for Celtic. He was tackled as he ran close in on goal, but contrived to hook the ball round and it entered the net via a post. This did not finish the scoring. The young Dons got going in the last five minutes and Smith scored with a tearing shot which McKay touched but could not hold.
Aberdeen were well served by Graham, Adey, Laing, Taylor, Bain, Pattillo and Williams, while Celtic's stars were McKay, Doyle, Davitt, Anderson, and Carruth.
