There were 6000 spectators at Pittodrie, where the rival reserves of Aberdeen and Dundee failed to decide their tie in the first round of the Scottish Second XI cup. In the first half, with the wind in their favour, the visitors had the better of the exchanges, Reid putting them ahead before the interval.
In the second half McLaughlin quickly equalised for Aberdeen, but subsequently an injury which necessitated the retirement of Connon, the home inside right, upset the play of the side, and although chances came their way they failed to improve upon them, a disappointing game ending in a draw.
