Sunday Post, 14th November 1920

The exhibition at Pittodrie between Aberdeen Reserves and Forfar Athletic in an Alliance League match was good and bad in turns. The game was evenly contested, but on play Aberdeen could have won. As it was, the game ended in a draw of one goal each. During most of the game play was devoid of interest, and it was only during the last ten minutes that there was any excitement. There was no scoring in the first half. The second period was only a few minutes old when Macdonald gave the locals the lead with a smartly taken goal. The opposing goalkeeper got his hands on the bail, but failed to hold it. After this Aberdeen took a good grip of the game, and had most of the play. The forwards, however, were none too sure in front of goal. Many good shots were sent in, but they were either too high or too wide. Ten minutes from time the Athletic had a splendid rally. Malcolm, the outside right, had a good run and cross. The local backs got wandered, and W. Moir getting his foot on the ball equalised from about 10 yards. Aberdeen seemed determined to get the winning point. They bombarded the goal, but without success, and one was forced to the conclusion that their luck was out.
