Aberdeen A had little difficulty in accounting for Kilmarnock A at Pittodrie on Saturday in Alliance game. The final score of 4-0 their favour by no means exaggerated their superiority, and, indeed, had they not slackened down at times, they could easily have improved on these figures.
The visitors were a singularly inept combination all over, the only prominent players being Marshall and Reilly, the wing halves, and Gibson, the right winger. The backs were poor, and the forwards ineffective and weak in finishing.
Carroll led the home van in dashing style, being ever ready to try a pot shot, bustle the backs, or swing the ball out to either wing. He scored three grand goals, two in the first half off crosses from the right, and the third in the second period - the best goal the match - a terrific drive into the corner of the net from well out. Lawson, the ex-Rangers winger, made quite a favourable impression on the home left. Although a trifle slow, he showed good ball control and combined well with McLeod.
The half line was solid and broke up most of the Killie attacks, Ross being the best half afield. All shots came alike to McSevich, who effected some daring and brilliant saves off close-range shots, while Muir and Ritchie, the latter in particular, tackled and kicked well. Aberdeen got their first goal through a misheader by Gray, the visiting inside left, off a corner kick.
