Aberdeen 'A' Win Again

The Scottish Alliance game between Aberdeen A and Dykehead at Pittodrie on Saturday was one of sharp contrasts, but the methods of the Aberdeen reserves proved the more profitable. The home side won by 3 goals to 1, but they had a big measure of luck. The Dykehead forwards made ground more quickly, and time and again had the home defence in a tangle. The young Dons were a dangerous force nevertheless, but their forwards showed a tendency to hesitate when in front of goal, whereas the Dykehead men always shot first time. Aberdeen, however, deserved to take both points from the match, for they did have a shade more of the play. McFarlane's lack of inches told against him, particularly in the second half, he was against the tall and none too gentle McCourt, a tower strength in the Dykehead team. The little centre was pluck and energy personified, however, and above all unselfish. His goal was got through smart work by Love. Both his wingers gave every support. Cheyne was the better of the inside men, scoring Aberdeen's first point. There was little fault to find with the rear divisions. McSevich playing splendidly in goal. Although he should have saved the third goal scored by Love, Elwood also gave a good display. Mulhall and Stewart were the dangerous men of the attack.
