Aberdeen "A" suffered their first defeat in the north this season when they were beaten by Fraserburgh at Bellslea Park by one goal to nil in the first of the home and home finals in the Aberdeenshire Cup competition. McSevich was the first custodian in action, having to save from Bruce. Following midfield play, Aberdeen got going, but McFarlane missed a good opportunity. The Aberdeen defence underwent a gruelling time, and conceded two corners, which came to nothing. The visitors were seldom dangerous, and Fraserburgh had considerably the better of the exchanges. Shortly before the interval the homesters scored the only goal of the match, Bruce being the marksman. In the second half play was more even, and Aberdeen was seen to better advantage. McFarlane on one occasion brought Gibb to his knees with a great drive. Following a shot by Love, Aberdeen forced an abortive comer. Play was transferred to the other end, where the homesters forced several fruitless corners. Subsequently Aberdeen broke away, and a combined run terminated in McHale shooting over. Fraserburgh appeared to have tired, and the visitors had much the better of the play, and were unfortunate not to equalise before the finish.
