Reserves' Fine Win

Luck in the spin of the coin gave Aberdeen "A" the advantage of the gale in the first half of their Alliance match with Hearts "A" at Pittodrie, and this practically assured them of victory. It was hardly expected that they would retain their half-time lead of 5 goals to nil to the finish, but that they did so redounds greatly to their credit. And they were not wholly on the defensive when facing the gale; there were periods when they kept the visiting team busy round their own goalmouth. Cheyne got his hat-trick through his opportunism. McFarlane scored his goal with a well-taken first-timer, while McHale's point was secured from a free kick about 50 yards out. McSevich had some clever saves, and had a large share in the honours that fell to the defence for their second half display. McHale was a great spoiler. The forwards made what use was possible with the chances that came their way, for the ball was difficult to control in such a gale.
