Aberdeen 'A' Fall Heavily
Aberdeen "A's" Alliance fixture at Tynecastle proved something of a debacle. The Pittodrie team as well as losing by eight goals to three and sustaining their second defeat of the season, lost the services of McLaren, their pivot, who was ordered off during the second period.
Aberdeen were first to be dangerous, Wilson heading past. Hearts had a run in which Currie headed over, and at the other end Newman saved from Donald. Hearts had the better of the exchanges, and after twenty minutes' play opened their account through Cowie. Little was seen of the Aberdeen attack. Fifteen minutes from the interval Summers beat Blackwell, and five minutes later Currie netted a third point. Aberdeen were awarded a penalty, but McFarlane sent the spot kick wide. In the second half Hearts were early aggressive, and counted in quick succession through Walls and Edgar. In an Aberdeen raid Yorston reduced the leeway, but Hearts were soon back at the other end, where Edgar added a sixth goal. Aberdeen tried hard to make up lost ground, but could make little of the home defence. After Walls has scored a seventh goal from a penalty, McLaren was sent off. Walls contributed an eighth goal from another spot kick. With ten men Aberdeen played pluckily, and before the finish Falloon, from a penalty, and Wilson scored.
