Aberdeen 'A' On Top

Aberdeen A team continued on their winning way. At the expense of Partick Thistle A at Pittodrie Park they registered a fourteenth success. Before 6000 spectators the Pittodrie second string beat the Firhill side by three goals to nil, and this result in no way flatters, as the home team were immeasurably superior.

Aberdeen commenced in convincing style, both Donald and Milne having good tries. Later Arneil was called on to save from Donald, and at the other end Simpson sent behind. In another Aberdeen raid McKenzie headed narrowly past, and in a Thistle attack Wilkie headed over. Aberdeen crowded on all sail, and both the local backs had shots which Arneil had difficulty in disposing of. Two corners fell to Aberdeen, and from the second Arneil saved from Polland. Partick replied in spirited style and Blackwell held a shot from Wilkie, and at the other end Milne missed a good opportunity. Later Wilson struck the crossbar. With twenty0three minutes gone Aberdeen secured an overdue goal through McKenzie off a Milne pass. The game had no sooner been restarted than, from a McKenzie centre, Milne breasted in a second goal. Partick retaliated, and from a free kick taken by Fraser, Walker headed wide. At the other end Arneil was in action to save efforts by Donald and Falloon. The home team had much the better of the exchanges, and after Arneil had saved a hook shot by Milne, Donald after a smart solo run smashed the ball into the net. Shortly before the interval the same player increased his side?s lead.

Partick Improve

Partick resumed in promising fashion, and Blackwell saved from Simpson. Immediately afterwards at the Thistle end Wilson gave McKenzie a great chance, but the winger miskicked. The Partick left wing again broke away and Blackwell once more dealt with a drive from Simpson. Despite the fact that the Thistle gave an improved display during this period, Aberdeen were still superior, and Arneil saved likely shots by the two Aberdeen wingers. Donald was the livewire of the home attack, and after he had hit the crossbar, Polland struck the upright. The Thistle had another excursion into Aberdeen territory, and Young had two tries. Near the close Donald had the ball in the net, but the whistle had previously gone for offside.
