Young Dons Should Not Have Lost
THE dice was loaded against Aberdeen "A" at Tynecastle, otherwise they would not have been beaten by strong-going Hearts " A."
Down 3-1 at the interval, which was a flattering lead for Hearts, Aberdeen resumed with such exhilarating attack that for almost half an hour Hearts were practically continuously defending.
Curran at times was a long distance spectator, as the remainder of the side were penning in sorely-harassed Hearts team.
Hather was the mainspring of Aberdeen's attack and more could have been made of his accurate goalmouth crosses.
Some of them, however, found a Hearts foot stuck out just far enough to divert it from the objective.
Hard Pressed
Hearts survived all the attempts to narrow the difference through pluck and luck, but they have not had such a roasting for many a long day.
Aberdeen's defence faltered badly in the first half and two lapses were costly as they enabled Whittle to snap the opportunities and score two goals of his hat-trick, which he completed after Hay had opened Aberdeen's account.
On pressure Aberdeen were value for more reward before Hather ended the scoring.
Aberdeen were strong at half back and Stenhouse and Bruce came out favourably against Hearts coming star, Cumming.
Hather was in a class by himself in the forward line and the rest played up to standard, but with little recompense.
