Aberdeen 'A' Triumph At Elgin

Fine Display by Home Team.

Aberdeen "A" played and won their third Aberdeen and District League fixture at Borough Briggs, where they beat Elgin City by five goals to two.
Aberdeen were early dangerous, and Parle did well to deal with a close range effort from Polland. At the other end Blackwell saved from Macdonald. After ten minutes' play Merrie gave Aberdeen the lead. Their lead was short-lived, however, Bremner collecting a pass from Phimister to equalise. Following this Elgin had much the better of the exchanges, and the Aberdeen defence was kept busy. The Pittodrie team improved, however, and McKenzie once more gave them the lead. Elgin retaliated, and Blackwell held shots by Gordon and Bremner. Aberdeen were a trifle lucky to retire at the interval with the lead.
Aberdeen attacked on the resumption, and Parle fisted clear from Wilson. Play was quickly transferred to the other end, where Bremner levelled the scores from a free kick. A few minutes afterwards Aberdeen were awarded a penalty, and from the spot kick McLaren gave them the advantage. Elgin set up a vigorous attack, and Blackwell was kept in action. McKenzie, with a long range effort, increased the Aberdeen total, and near the close Merrie addled a fifth goal.
