Aberdeen 4 - 0 Motherwell

We had no difficulty in beating Motherwell reserves at Pittodrie last Saturday by four goals to nil. Danny McGeough gave us the lead when he was left unmarked in front of goal to head in a fine cross from Andy Dornan. We played some good football in the first half but our good play was not rewarded with goals.
After the interval we increased our lead when after good leading up play on the right wing, Andy Watson crossed a good ball for Derek Hamilton to head in at the far post and from then on it was one way traffic. Andy Watson, having his best game for some time, latched on to a Duncan Davidson pass and nearly uprooted the net from close range for our third counter. Danny McGeough got his second goal, when taking a Neil Burke cross in his stride, his left foot shot raged into the net, just inside the keeper's right hand post.
It was our intention to play Willie Garner for part of the game after his lay off with his leg break. Big Willie was enjoying his game so much that he felt he could go through the 90 minutes without any trouble. He played well and with a few more games under his belt, he'll be looking for a first team spot again.
Joe Smith was another of our players who stood out with his passing and intelligent use of the ball. Big Joe has made a good recovery from his knee injury and his experience helps our young players. Neil Burke, one of our younger players, had a first class game for us and his work rate was good, although his passing of the ball was careless at times.
Danny McGeough is our top scorer with ten goals so far. He worked hard for his two on Saturday. I hope his scoring continues today, when we go to Ibrox to try and topple League leaders Rangers, who are one point ahead with a game in hand.
