Aberdeen 'A' Badly Beaten

An Aberdeen man resident in Motherwell writes:- Aberdeen "A" should have beaten Motherwell "A" by at least six goals. The forwards were great in midfield, but when it came to shooting for goal, well, the least said the better. The Pittodrie players were easily superior to the home lot. The Motherwell Reserves were really fortunate to win. They certainly should not have beaten their opponents by 5-1.

Aberdeen "A.'s" prospects of winning the Alliance League championship suffered setback at Motherwell on Saturday, when they were defeated by five goals to one. The homesters were early aggressive, and opened their account from a penalty, conceded by Cooper. Douglas took the kick. Aberdeen played steadily, and Falloon came near counting with a good drive. The Pittodrie side were having the better of the exchanges, and only weakness near goal kept them from opening their account. After McLaren had missed a glorious chance, McFarlane hit the woodwork, and then Gerrard saved brilliantly from Falloon. After thirty minutes' play Edward converted a cross to put his side on level terms. This success was short lived, however, in a breakaway Muir put through his own goal. Shortly after the resumption, following a raid by the visitors, Motherwell transferred play to the other end, where Tennant increased their advantage. Subsequently Edward scored for Aberdeen, but was adjudged off-side. This was followed tby he inside right sending over an empty goal. In the closing stages Motherwell took matters in hand, and despite good play by McSevich, Bone and Tennant brought the home total to five.
