Six goals in two successive matches leave no doubt as to what is lan Rodger's best position.
Although he had a bag of fifty-two goals for Aberdeen teams last season, the former Forfar Athletic player had to wait until November 22 before getting a run at centre-forward this season, and alreday he has staked a claim for a first team place!
Even allowing for a weak opposition by the Scottish Command side at Pittodrie, there was much to like about Rodger’s play. Apart from scoring four times he opened up play well and was always ready to have a shot.
It was all too easy for the Pitlodrie reserve side, and one wonders whether it would not have been befer from a long-term point of view to include youngsters like Cameron and Samuel at wing half-back in a game of this type.
These youngsters need all the experience they can get, whereas Ewen and Baird are both well on in years in a football sense.
