Aberdeen "A" were a much improved side at Pittodrie where they had a 5-1 win over Raith Rovers "A." They worked more as a team and there was better understanding in the half-back line.
Although the young Dons were always on top, Raith Rovers were more in the game than the score suggests. McLaughlin, at inside left, was the danger man.
Time and again he led the visitors to the goalmouth, but fine work by Morrison in goal and Chris Anderson, at centre-half, kept them out.
Ewen was another who took the eye. He showed possibilities as an attacking half-back. Of the forwards, McNeill was the best. He played all out for ninety minutes and never let a chance slip by.
