Five Goals Victory Over Q.P. Strollers.
Aberdeen "A" completed their Alliance League fixtures for the season in fine style at Pittodrie on Saturday evening, when they whacked Queen's Park Strollers by five goals to nil. The Young Dons were undoubtedly the better team, but the margin in their favour rather flattered them. Cumming in the Aberdeen goal was not seriously troubled, and Jackson and Sharp at back played steadily. The outstanding half-back was Gavin, and time and again the old Ashfield boy checked the visitors' attack. O'Reilly and Palmer both played quite well. The latter was obviously inexperienced and in need of training. He had a great drive from a free kick, but Johnston saved by throwing himself across the goal.Armstrong Impresses.
Of the forwards only Armstrong impressed, and he was taking part in his second game for the day. In the visitors' ranks, Parlane at inside-right was outstanding, and had the hardest luck on several occasions. Best of the others were Banks, Scott, McKelvie, and Wilson. Armstrong scored within a minute of the start, and ten minutes later Gall added a second. Adam got a third after thirty-five minutes, and just on the interval Armstrong scored number four. The fifth and last goal came from Lawie shortly after the resumption.Source: Press & Journal, 30th April 1934
