William Vannet, Aberdeen's latest capture from Lochee Harp, gave a promising display at inside right in his first match with the reserves on Saturday, when they beat Arbroath "A" by 4-0 at Pittodrie.
A trialist in the Aberdeen team was Ian Simpson (Banks o' Dee) at outside left. Though not much in the game he showed some clever touches.
Best of the forwards was Jimmy McIntyre. He was strong, direct, and packed a good shot. His goal was the best of the four.
Main credit for the Young Dons' success must go to their half-backs, who never relaxed their grip on the Arbroath attack and kept their own forwards well supplied.
Roy was in complete command in the middle. Baikie and Chalmers were outstanding.
Of the full backs, McKeown was best. He showed fine sense of anticipation when he twice stopped certain counters on the goal-line.
