Striker Edwards Grabs Late Equaliser For Young Dons

Rangers would no doubt have loved to record a victory over Dons in the Premier Reserve League when the two sides met in the aftermath of Aberdeen's 1-0 win at Ibrox. However despite Rangers taking the lead midway through the first-half Dons battled on to deservedly snatch a draw by means of an equaliser in the closing minutes to snatch the prize away from the Glasgow club.
It came from a Peter Weir cross with Keith Edwards seeing his first attempt blocked but he was on his toes to follow up and force the ball in. On the yardstick of scoring attempts Dons could have made it an outright victory, Paul Wright going close on two or three occasions early in the game.
Rangers will no doubt feel that they did well to hang on with 10 men after Davie Kirkwood had been sent off after 15 minutes of the second-half. By this time the home team were well on top but could not translate the superiority into goals until that late Edwards strike.
