Level Pegging At Pittodrie

We could have run up a big score against Ayr if we had taken our chances and for some good goalkeeping by our former goalkeeper Andy Geoghegan. Andy had some fine saves, but had to admit defeat three times, Doug Rougvie, Drew Jarvie and Ian Gibson being our scorers with Nisbet replying for the visitors.
We played a lot of good football in this game and one of the best features was the goal scored by Doug Rougvie. In a series of first time passes which involved Drew Jarvie, Jocky Scott and Ian Gibson, Dougie was left with only the goalkeeper to beat, and he made a good job of doing it. Derek Fraser playing in the unaccustomed position of right back had an exceptionally good game, and his use of the ball was very good.
Our two central defenders, Jim Crawford and Neil Cooper had some difficulty again with high balls down the middle, this was one of the weaknesses of our team, but with some practice the boys will get on top of their job. Our midfield players did a lot of good work, with intelligent use of the ball and good running off the ball. Up front Duncan Davidson's speed was always in evidence and with some care he could have finished with two or three goals.
Drew Jarive and Ian Gibson also played their part, although "Gibby" at times is inclined to be too casual. If he is to be challenging for a first team place he will have to rectify this fault.
