Our team was: Gardiner, Garner, Glennie, Smith, McLeish, Cooper, Grant, Miller, Fleming, McMaster, Davidson, Rougvie replaced Smith, Clark replaced Davidson, Brown replaced Fleming, Sullivan and Gibson did not play.
The match was played on an ice bound pitch and the players found difficulty keeping their feet. John Gardiner had some good saves before Ian Fleming fastened on to a pass-back from a defender to score our first goal. Willie Miller playing in midfield, (and playing well) accepted a pass from Fleming to hammer the ball into the net from 30 yds. Ian Fleming headed home the third goal from a Duncan Davidson cross after good work by Willie Miller. Caley pulled one back after the interval when Joe Smith, attempting to clear in a goal-mouth scramble, knocked the ball past John Gardiner. John Clark, who replaced Davidson, headed home a John McMaster corner kick to restore our three goal lead, and in the closing minutes Gordon Fyfe ran through on his own to complete the scoring. The players who did that bit more for us were John Gardiner, the two full backs Willie Miller and Ian Fleming.
