This game was brought forward to allow Rangers players Dawson, Boyd, and Chris Robertson to play for the Scottish Youth team in Cannes this week, and it was young Robertson who scored the two goals which beat us, he is a very good player and linked up well with Derek Parlane who also gave our defenders a hard time in the first half.
Billy Pirie scored for us in the second half to make the score 2 - 1 and he missed an easy chance late in the game which would have given us a draw we would have hardly deserved. Noel Ward had a great game in goal, and saved us from going in at the interval trailing by a bigger margin than 2 - 0. Bobby Glennie and Neil Cooper after a shaky start settled down to play steadily and by the end of the game they were masters of Parlane and Robertson.
Billy Pirie and John McMaster were other players who played well for us, unfortunately John sustained an eye injury and had to be replaced by Ian Wilson. John was full of praise for the treatment and attention given to him by Tom Craig the Rangers "Physio". I would also like to add my own thanks to Tom with him looking after John it allowed me to remain on the bench to spur the lads on. Rangers have taken eight points from us this season, but all the games have been close results and with a little luck we could have had a share of the "spoils".
