The recent Premier Reserve League meeting with Airdrie at Broomfield was the first time in several weeks that an experienced team could be fielded and this made the 3-2 defeat an especially bitter pill to swallow. It was, perhaps, in keeping with an all-round disappointing display that the game included the unusual feature of three "own goals".
Gregg Watson and Stephen McAnespie (who was also booked) were the Aberdeen unfortunates, while Jim Smith inflicted a similar wound on Airdrie to add to Andy Roddie's more orthodox counter.
