In the process of adding early match reports to the www.afcheritage.org website we have found a competitive goalscoring error for Willie Lennie in a match against Hamilton on 3rd September 1910. Jim Rickaby's excellent book "Aberdeen A Complete Record" gives Lennie the opening goal in that game - this is supported by The Scotsman report on 5th September 1910. However, The Aberdeen Daily Journal and Dundee Courier on the same date give the goal as an own goal by Brownlie of Hamilton Accies. Consequently, we have changed the records and this reduces the mercurial Willie's total of goals scored to 66 - putting him behind rather than alongside Billy Dodds in the all-time scoring chart.

The AFC Heritage Trust has an ongoing project to check every fixture and its details listed in the website database as well as to add hitherto unrecorded matches ? mainly friendlies and minor competitions ? including reserve matches. The project is likely to take a number of years as match reports are being added wherever possible and this is time consuming. Reserve matches have not, until fairly recently been recorded on the site, so there are many gaps to fill, but once the information has been compiled it is planned to provide a similar set of statistics on the website as is available for first team players and matches.

Another correction, for a game in the North-Eastern Cup away to Falkirk, on 10th September 1910, has deprived Jimmy Soye of a goal (not counted in competitive fixtures) as both the Aberdeen Daily Journal and the Falkirk Herald described it as an own goal by Falkirk's Gilmour off a shot by Soye.

Inevitably with such a huge collection of information, the odd error is likely to be present whether in a book or in a database, so we will be glad to hear from fellow enthusiasts if they should happen upon any errors in the Trust website.

The end target is to be able to provide the most comprehensive and accurate record possible of Aberdeen matches and of the many players who appeared at all levels for the Club.
