Scott Severin is buried under his team mates after scoring the winner against the Pars earlier in the season.

The last time Aberdeen faced Dunfermline at Pittodrie they were still shell shocked by their League Cup exit at the hands of Queens Park. That day the Dons dug in to grind out a win courtesy of a Scott Severin strike. Having already exorcised their Scottish Cup exit with a win in Paisley two weeks ago the Dons will be looking to continue their winning run as they fight for a European spot next season. Chris Clark, Jamie Langfield and Darren Mackie will all have gained confidence from last night's 'B' international and along with Scott Severin and Russell Anderson they will be looking to keep their club form consistent in the hope of achieving further International recognition.

The Dons have beaten Dunfermline twice this season and have yet to concede a goal. But they know that the Pars are fighting for the SPL survival and cup wins over Rangers and Hearts are a sharp reminder of how dangerous they can be. Manager Jimmy Calderwood is well aware of the dangers his former side can present:

"This will be a Dunfermline side who will be coming north on a high following their Cup win over the holders last weekend. It seems the luck that is deserting them in the league is happening as far as the cup is concerned but make no mistake, they are playing for their lives and this will be in some ways harder than the Celtic visit next week, which will take care of itself."

Steve Lovell.

Redquote: " You have to show proper respect to the opposition and Dunfermline aren't going to be a pushover. They've had some good results in the Scottish Cup, they've stopped conceding goals, and so they will make life difficult. It's always been the teams that are at the lower end of the league that have caused us trouble because they tend to come and sit in, though we've dealt with it better this season. We have to be fully prepared for that and not underestimate them in any way." Steve Lovell

Having so many players away on international duty is a double-edged sword. It obviously reflects well on the club but picking up knocks is always a concern. Fortunately there are no concerns on the injury front as Jimmy revealed to Redweb earlier today. He told us: "All the boys who were away with Scotland reported back today with no injuries which is great. Miller is a doubt for the weekend as he twisted his ankle in training at the end of last week. He has been training with our physio for the last couple of days and is hopefully going to be back with the first team tomorrow in training. We are confident he will make it but we will just wait and see.

"We have put ourselves in a good position in the league and now it is up to us to treat every game as a must win, starting this Saturday against Dunfermline. Dunfermline are good at dead ball situations and although they have not been scoring many in recent weeks they have also not been giving many away so we will have to work hard to break them down.

"There is a lot of expectation on us to win this game which puts the pressure on us but it's the sort of pressure we want to be under. As I've said before, our home form will dictate where we finish this season and this is the kind of game where anything less than the three points will be considered a disappointment."

Russell Anderson.

Redquote: "Because of the number of players and staff who've changed between the two clubs, these games always have an extra edge to them, and Dunfermline have shown in the cup what they are capable of. They've really tightened up at the back and I can't see there being too many goals. The first goal will be more important than ever, especially against a side who should be growing in confidence after beating Hearts. They're scrapping for their survival and it's as big a game for them as it is for us, for very different reasons." Russell Anderson

This week's match has a traditional 3pm kick off this Saturday with gates opening at 2pm. The award winning RedMatchday Magazine will be on sale around Pittodrie with Steve Lovell the featured player this week. Captain Russell Anderson, Richard Gordon and manager Jimmy Calderwood all give their take on the outlook for the rest of the season while Kevin Stirling supplies the historical facts and reviews. Click Here for a full preview of this week's programme. You can also catch the views of Richard Foster by clicking on the RedTV icon above.

If you can't make it to Saturday's match, remember you can listen to the action via RedTV. Dave MacDermid will be on hand to keep you up to date with all the action from 2:45pm. Remember to return to RedTV on Monday to catch the highlights!
