The Aberdeen FC Former Players Association sponsor Aberdeen FC Youth Academy player Mason Hancock for this season. We feel that our sponsorship will be a great boost for a young player and also a good way to support Aberdeen FC in these difficult times.April 2021
We have re-established a connection with the Aberdeenshire Cricket Club (ACC). It is interesting to know that back in the late 70s early 80s, ACC had a strong relationship with AFC. Sir Alex Ferguson and Archie Knox were members and they used the Club as a quiet place to socialise away from the public eye. Eddie Thomson and George Murray played for their local Grades team and were active members and each year they held a cricket match between the two clubs. As captain of ACC at the time, Willie Donald - now President, would play for ACC and fondly remembers opening the batting with Joey Harper. Bang up to date, Joe Lewis is a popular member.Alex Kiddie - 27th March 2021
Everyone at Aberdeen Football Club is deeply saddened to hear that Alex Kiddie has passed away at the age of 93. To our knowledge Alex was the oldest surviving Dons player and the final link to the club's first ever senior trophy. The winger played a starring role in the side that won the 1946 Southern League Cup against Rangers at Hampden Park in front of over 130,000. Until quite recently he was still a regular and very popular visitor to Pittodrie. Alex passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday morning, 27th March 2021. On behalf of everyone at AFC, our thoughts are with Alex's wife Norma, his son and good friend of the club Paul, granddaughter Caitlin, grandson Michael, and all the family at this difficult time. Rest in Peace Alex.
