Following the dismissal of Jim Goodwin, the call to look after the 1st team came again just under a year later when Barry was asked to fill in during the search for a new manager, with the support of Scott Anderson and experienced coach Steve Agnew. Their first match was at home to St Mirren on 1st February 2023.
After some strong performances from the team, Barry was confirmed interim manager until the end of the 2022-23 season. Following seven straight wins and winning the cinch Premiership Manager of the Month award for March, Barry and his staff helped stabilise the Club, with the team currently sitting third and locked in a battle to secure European football, resulting in his appointment becoming permanent on 1st May 2023.
