Only a few weeks after his previous caretaker role with the Dons, Peter was once again asked to fill in following the departure of Neil Warnock and pending the appointment of a new manager.
On 14th April the Club announced that Peter would remain in charge till the end of the season with new manager Jimmy Thelin due to take up the reins at the beginning of June.
In August 2024 there was speculation that Raith Rovers wanted Peter as their new manager, but following an approach the highly respected coach decided to remain with the Dons.
