Brought to Pittodrie to score goals, Arild had a respectable return but met with criticism in the local press for not getting more. He was a popular character with the fans who were disappointed when he moved away after only two seasons, exercising a clause in his contract that allowed him to move for only a notinal fee. After his playing career, Arild went into management as well as writing for the media and publishing a novel - Exposed at the Back.
