A highly competent goalkeeper Joel (known as Joey) was signed as understudy to Harry Blackwell. Although a regular in the reserves, his single senior appearance for Aberdeen came when the Dons travelled to Easter Road in November 1924 missing six first team regulars. With Harry Blackwell out with the flu' Joey got his chance, unfortunately he marred a fine display by slipping to allow a Miller shot to roll into the net for Hibernian's fourth goal. With Blackwell fit the following week Joey returned to the reserves. Died: 25 Wood End Way, Greenford (suburb of London), 1st January 1982
