Tommy Pearson

One of the most skilful wingers to play for the Dons, famed for his "double shuffle," and an ability to nutmeg opponents, Pearson joined the club from Newcastle for £4,000 at the age of 35. Although his best days were behind him, Pearson was still a personality player at Pittodrie, appreciated by the Aberdeen support. Had the distinction of having played for both Scotland and England before retiring in 1953. In season 1951-52, when Bob McDermid was unwell, Pearson took on the role of trainer and coach to fill the gap, coaching three days and one evening a week whilst continuing as a player. He returned to Pittodrie six years after his retirement as manager, having been a newspaper columnist iin between times.
Made over 100 appearances for the Dons. During the Second World War he served with the RAF at Kirkham and whilst based there played as a guest for Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool. He was a member of the Blackpool team that lost to Aston Villa in the regional Cup Final of 1944, a match played on a home and away basis.
