HOT WATER SUPPLY Its primary attraction as a picnic centre will be preserved. The area of ground between high water mark and St Fittick's Road will be cleared of the loose stones and rubbish that litter it at present. The lighting of fires will still be permitted, but hot water will be available for those who do not wish to light fires. Ample recreational facilities will also be provided. There will be a football ground, an eighteen-hole putting course, a paddling pond, and a fully equipped children's playground. An important feature of the scheme will be a big camping ground. Here it will be possible for campers to spend a pleasant holiday, for a day or two or longer, and one of the suggestions being made is that it might be possible for people to rent a site and camp at the Bay of Nigg throughout the summer.
SHELTER FOR 2000 A big car park, which can be enlarged if necessary, will also be included in the scheme. Shops, tea rooms, a caretaker's house, and a shelter capable of accommodating 2000 people will also be provided. A large area of marsh land, through which the main sewer is being laid, will be built up and developed later. The approach to the Bay of Nigg will also be improved. St Fittick's Road, from the bus terminus right along the area to be developed, will be widened. Details of the cost will be given at next meeting of committee. Another decision of the committee was that the pavilion at the bowling green at Stewart Park should be made available to old men of the district, as has been done at Westburn Park. It was left to Councillor J. Hay (Holburn), the convener, and Mr W. B. Clark, superintendent of parks, to make arrangements. It was agreed that there should be a formal opening of the new football pavilion at Hazlehead on a date to be fixed later.
