This substantial pewter beer jug was presented to the Dons in Munich when they visited on 2nd March 1983 to play in the quarter final first leg of the European Cup Winners Cup tournament. The jug is a substantial one with details of the fixture and the Bayern Munich logo engraved into it.
This was a match the Bayern were expected to win but the Dons played a clever and competitive game to secure a goalless draw and with a little luck might have won. The return leg at Pittodrie is so famous that it needs no description her. Suffice to say that the rest is history.
