south africa tour medal 1927
This special gold medal was issued during Aberdeen's 1927 tour of South Africa when Aberdeen became the first Scottish team to venture amongst the Springboks.
This example was given to Director William Philip by the South African Football Association in July 1927. It is currently not known if every member of the party received one of these, but it is a rare and wonderful thing to have in The Aberdeen Collection.
It was procured for the Heritage Trust in April 2019 along with a number of other medals which will also be put on show in future.
