|The ground was opened in 1997, after Peterhead's old ground Recreation Park was sold off to supermarket company Safeway. The standard of the facilities at Balmoor was one of the main reasons why Peterhead were elected to the Scottish Football League in 2000, along with Elgin City.
There is no railway station in the town, the nearest being in the
Aberdeen.. The bus journey takes roughly an hour, with buses
leaving Aberdeen at quarter past and quarter to the hour (services
260 via Ellon and 263 via Cruden Bay). From the Back Street bus
stop, Balmoor is a simple walk. Turn left onto Queen Street,
and walk straight up to the top of the hill, and you'll find
Balmoor to your left.
