A very large crowd assembled at Wellington Grounds to see these teams play their return fixture in the Northern League competition. Additional interest was lent to the match by the fact that its result largely affected the destination of the Gershon Cup. The game had not been long in progress when Aberdeen, who were playing against the breeze, registered their first goal.Ends were changed with the position unaltered.
On crossing over Aberdeen again assumed the aggressive, and for about half an hour they were seldom away from the United goal. That their efforts to score were unsuccessful was due partly to ill-luck, and partly to reckless shooting, but principally to the fine defence of Anderson and Ririe. Within the last fifteen minutes a marked change came over the play of the ground team. They worked with a will, and time after time bore down on the Aberdeen goal, till at length it succumbed to a long shot, which struck Davidson's hand and went through. The ball had just been centred when time was called, Result: Victoria United 1, Aberdeen 1.
