Div 1 (Old)
Airdrie 3 - 1 Aberdeen
Kick Off:    Yarnell 3       Cail.
Attendance: 2,500
Venue: Broomfield Park, Airdrie
One of the fastest games of the season was witnessed at Airdrie, when the local team won by three goals to one. Aberdeen were very weak forward, but their defence lines stood up grandly against the rapid and clever play of the Airdrie forwards, who excelled themselves. Only one goal was scored in the first half, though there might as easily have been three out of all the Airdrie pressure. Shortly after the start of the second half Cail scored for Aberdeen. The "Dons," however, never looked like winning, and two more goals for Airdrie no more than represented their worth. Yarnell had all three goals for the winners.

Wintry weather prevailed at Airdrie, where Aberdeen were beaten by 3 goals to 1. Airdrie were the first to show up, and Knox had a beauty, which Hume headed clear. Comrie then had a try, but colder averted danger. Aberdeen transferred play, but Cail was deprived of the ball when about to shoot. Twice Yarnall was stopped by Thomson, Aberdeen's centre-half. Airdrie again pressed, but when Aberdeen got a look in, Main shook the crossbar with an excellent shot. In a heart attack by the home forwards, Anderson was beaten by Yarnall, who headed into the net. At half-time, Airdrie were leading by 1 goal to nil.

Immediately on the restart, Aberdeen's goal had a narrow escape. Thomson then pushed the ball well ahead towards the other end, and Cail in wooded the backs and equalised. As the game preceded, Airdrie proved the superior side, and Yarnall scored twice within the last 10 minutes, thus accomplishing the hat trick.
