The Aberdeen 1 - 1 Victoria United
Kick Off:    Gray       ?
Attendance: 4,000
Venue: Cattofield, Aberdeen
A Surprise and a Draw.
Teams: Aberdeen - Smyth; John Davidson, Gall; C. W. Mackie, Joseph Davidson, Thomson; Turner, Taylor, Toman, Gray, J. Mackie. Victoria United - Insch; Anderson, Ririe; Morrice, W. Ririe, Annand; G. McFarlane, A. McFarlane, Clark, Forsyth, Ritchie. Referee: Mr McLeod, Cowlairs F.C.

Although the Aberdeen won the toss they chose to play uphill with a strong sun in their face. Clark kicked off for the Vics, before an attendance of 4O00, and they at once made for their opponents' territory, but Gall came to the rescue and quickly sent them to the right about. Numerous chances to score were thrown away by both clubs, but more especially by the Blues, and half-time was called with no scoring on either side.

Resuming, the Victoria United immediately invaded. A touch, however, relieved the Aberdeen, and she sphere was once more in midfield. The Vics combination, never very brilliant during the game, fell away considerably, while, on the other hand, the Aberdeen seemed to improve, and made matters pretty hot for the Blues. Toman getting the leather passed to Gray, who lowered the Blues', colours. The Vics subsequently scored, and the same ended equal - one each.

The Whites are famed for surprises, and last Saturday we were treated to one of the most genuine of the season, when the Chanonry lads drew with the Victoria United (1 each) after a hard game in a scorching sun. The hero of the encounter was Tom Smyth, whose goalkeeping was in itself worth seeing. Gall played his best game since he "came out," while for the Vics, Ririe, Anderson, Annand, Morrice, the Macfarlanes, and Clark, were the pick. The Blues were certainly unlucky in having Forsyth accidentally hurt, but then Mackie was about as much of a passenger as the first-named. On Monday evening the tussle will be renewed.
